Ravens Book Super Bowl Trip to New Orleans; Unable to Find Hotel Rooms

NEW ORLEANS – Many players on the Baltimore Ravens will be too excited to sleep the night before facing the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. That’s just fine by them, since they don’t have a hotel room to sleep in.

After their win against the New England Patriots on Sunday, members of the Baltimore Ravens organization spent hours frantically calling New Orleans hotels, motels, inns, bed and breakfasts, and youth hostels in search for places for the team to stay. They were not successful.

“Most people just laughed at us for a good seven or eight minutes before hanging up,” said Kimberley Modell-Slertz, Baltimore Ravens travel coordinator.

“Apparently a lot of people travel to the Super Bowl. We had no idea.”

When asked where he planned on sleeping the night before his final game in the NFL, Ray Lewis replied, “Sleep? I haven’t slept since I got a concussion in 2009. Sleep is for fools.”

Yesterday linebacker Terrell Suggs tweeted, “Im sleepin on the ground.” It is unknown if there is a specific place where Suggs plans to sleep or if he will nap in a random sports bar near the stadium prior to the game.

The team is trying to make due. The entire defensive line will pile into the stock room of a New Orleans hair salon owned by Haloti Ngata’s cousin Renata Ngata. The special teams unit has been taken in by a family of coyotes. Quarterback Joe Flacco has yet to find any groups interested in housing him.

Their opposition in Super Bowl XLVII, the San Francisco 49ers had no trouble finding housing.

“C’mon, we booked our hotels once we benched Alex Smith,” said 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh.

“Who was gonna beat us? The Falcons? The Packers? Hell, we’ve had our dinner reservations set since Week Four.”
